Lettres sur les Anglois et les Francois et sur les Voiages.

Cologne : 1725. 12mo, [12], 312 pp, title in red and black, ink blot in margin of H2 recto, prelims. a little waterstained, stamped “Bond” and with the signature “Jean Bond son Livre 1737” on front fly, cont. sprinkled calf, gilt spine, head and foot worn with loss, joints sound.
This work, one of the earliest comparative studies of English and French customs and usage, was first published in 1725 and some authorities (e.g. Conlon) identify this one printed in Cologne as the first. However, it seems to us that the edition of 543 pages printed ‘without place’ (either Zurich or Geneva?) is a more likely candidate. They were followed, in 1726, by a second edition, enlarged to 3 parts totalling over 650 pages.
